Giant Sandwich at All'Antico Vinaio Venice

This Florence-style sandwich company is everywhere now, so I decided to try the Venice location. I'll be honest, the sandwich is just too big for me. I don't want to use two sandwiches to hold this thing together; I'm trying to get something done while eating a sandwich. Everything tastes fresh, but the bread wasn't that impressive. Also, don't order the truffle cream unless you love truffles. However, I'll be back, with two other people though.

Hooked at Dudley Market

At seafood benchmark Dudley Market in Venice; super barista Nicely Abel has opened Hooked a semi permanent coffee pop up serving some of the wildest coffees in North America. Did I mention that every drink Nicely makes is a work of art. Coffee from Black & White, Dune & Counter Culture among other brands.

Pasta Sisters

With locations in Culver & Mid City, tasty affordable Italian food is available for just about everyone. The original Country Club Park location is tiny but perfect for an off hour lunch. The larger Helms bakery location also serves beer and bubbles. Sandwiches are tasty and if you want the pasta they have five to choose from.  Troubles along the 10 freeway would be a good excuse to exit for either location. When in doubt add that Italian Burrata to the top of all meals.

Great White Venice Beach

Most of the time when I visit Venice, I never manage to make it to the beach because I'm too preoccupied with eating at Great White. This eatery, with its fierce oceanic emblem, can be spotted on coffee cups, while the staff dons all-white attire, resembling attendees of a less-than-stellar Hamptons party. The Breakfast burrito at Great White has achieved legendary status, but personally, I frequent the place for a hearty dose of carbs. Their Ricotta pancake and the homemade banana bread, toasted to perfection, are absolute delights (yes, they rival my mother's culinary prowess). In addition to these breakfast options, their burgers and pizzas are reliably delicious. And of course, the coffee, expertly crafted by Victoria, lives up to the high standards you would expect from an Aussie.

Nighthawks: Breakfast Bar

A restaurant/ bar that serves breakfast that came from NYC, went to Hollywood and quickly left for wild and wacky Venice. Not actually near the wacky part of Venice it's actually closer to the Marina Del condos.  Food here is what you would expect, greasy(not a bad word here) sweet and heavy(maybe bad) because of how large the portion is. I assume the Drunken French toast is suppose to use it's large chunks of brioche to soak up the booze in your system. Some of the alcohol could be from a mimosa or the spiked cereal milk, I like the PB Cap'n Crunch with Whiskey. Candied bacon and tater tots was a little excessive but it was nice to leave brunch with a leftover I actually want to eat.
