Echo Park
This was quite the wild neighborhood 20 years ago, still remember the story of my friend coming outside to see his roommate's car on fire. Now rent is the same as Beverly Hills.
1642
Don't tell everybody about 1642, it won't matter most people won't want to come here anyway, this unfussy beer & wine bar is the perfect place to hideaway and listen to some live music.
1642 West Temple, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Opens at 6pm Tuesday-Sunday
Triple Beam Pizza
Triple Beam Pizza is a local chain here in LA with several locations throughout the city. Triple Beam serves Roman-style pizza from Mozza restaurateur Nancy Silverton. For those who don't know about Roman style, you walk to register, use your fingers to signal how much pizza you want, slice it with scissors, and then warm it in the oven. Perfect!

Crawford's
Crawford's on Beverly(across from the Original Tommy Burger) is a drab yellow brick building with a sign on either side of the door, Fried Chicken & Ice Cold Beer. If this seems out of place in modern LA, then you wouldn't be surprised to find out the inside is a trip back to a Texas dive bar. Pool tables and a jukebox sit at one end while large leather booths squeeze as many in as possible. They got boiled peanuts and cheap Bud on draft. The fried chicken(their website says best in LA) comes hot or not with only a few side options available. The best thing about Crawford's though, is when you step out those doors you don't have to worry about your reproductive rights
